The Family Counseling Agency
209 S. Tucson Blvd.

STAFF PICK: The non-profit Family Counseling Agency sends out caseworkers to elderly and disabled people who still live on their own, but are in danger of being institutionalized. Case managers assess clients needs and hook them up with the services they require to continue living safely and independently. For example, if an old woman just needs help bathing and shopping, FCA can set her up with those services and keep her out of a nursing home. It's one of those rare win-win situations: Clients are happier and healthier when they can remain in their own homes, and the county economy is happier and healthier when clients stay out of long-term care.
