Best Gen-X Toy Store

Richard Johnson's Toys and Antiques
118 E. Congress St.

STAFFPICK: Another downtown treasure trove of collectable toys, both modern and vintage, is Richard Johnson's Toys and Antiques. Here you'll find an impressive inventory of television- and movie-derived action figures and accessories, like the Chuck Norris action figure with Double Flying Falcon kick-action (just $1.99!), and accompanying Chuck Norris Karate Kommando Corvette. With a little bit of nostalgia and patience, you'll find just about any scaled-down superhero or supervillain imaginable, like the four-inch poseable, multi-jointed Marion Ravenwood doll from Raiders of the Lost Ark; or the six-inch Schwarzenegger Commando-Matrix figure. For less than you'd spend on an evening of pay-per-view, you can stock up on various generations of Star Trek characters, an inflatable Hercules punching bag, the Darth Vader wristwatch with Millennium Falcon case, or the Wolverine X-Men phone. And, in keeping with the theme nearest and dearest to our hearts this year, Richard Johnson's boasts the widest selection of Godzilla toys, bar none.

It may also be the only place in town where you can get your hands on a real Chupacabras. It not only walks, but every few seconds the upper half of its body goes into a series of 360-degree spins. Weird.
