Best Midtown Steak

Gus and Andy's
2000 N. Oracle Road

STAFF PICK: A meat-eaters paradise since 1956, Gus and Andy's serves seafood standards like crab, shrimp and lobster, with a bit of fowl for good measure; but the menu mainstay is beef! With 40 years-worth of grilled-to-order steaks under their belts, these guys know their stuff. Entrees are served with standard sides such as potatoes, rice and soup; or, if you don't mind a deprecating glance or two from die-hards, you can opt for a green salad. (They once tried putting in a salad bar, but after pounds of wilted lettuce, they yanked it out to make more room for the regulars.) Top sirloin, filet mignon, ribs and other choice cuts approach perfection for less than $15. The full-length bar and heavy, dark atmosphere make it a great place to hunker down for a digestive after-dinner drink. Also, for a little TGIF entertainment, Gus and Andy's hosts a lunchtime lingerie fashion show every Friday. Only in America!
