Best Defunct-Club Gig

STAFF PICK: They came, they saw, etc. Even if Luna Loca only books on an intermittent basis now, this show will always be one for the books. Last November, when the café was in full swing, Los Angeles punks the Lazy Cowgirls snorted through a no-nonsense, hi-octane set of Stones-cum-Stooges rawk that was 10 times more vital than anything the Orange County or Bay Area quincy punx mustered during trips to the Old Pueblo. And Australia's Cosmic Psychos out-Ramoned the has-been Ramones with buzzsaw riffs, heavily accented vocals, and a manly stage presence that had to be seen to be experienced: At encore time, all three members marched to the edge of the stage, glared purposefully at the adoring Loca crowd, turned, and dropped trou in a brilliant three-moon salute. Come back for a tour of the local observatory, guys.
