Best Way To Beat The Heat

STAFF PICK: We've already got it on the calendar for next summer, and we hope a Tucson tradition was born in these 1990s that have brought us record-breaking hot summers--the Dive-In Movies. That's right, no typo. When Tucson's temps rise, Tucson Parks and Recreation shows family movies on the big screen at various public pools around town. On eight simmering summer evenings June through August, hundreds of cool Tucsonans dogpaddled, treaded water or more lazily floated on rafts and inner tubes while watching flicks like Wizard of Oz, Lion King and Jungle Book. What a way to cool off--and you don't even need sunscreen.
