BOOKMANS USED BOOKS. 1930 E. Grant Road. 325-0241. The Bedroom Projects features photography by Palo Verde High School students sharing their private worlds through the camera's eye. Bookmans' new gallery space opens with a reception on Friday, January 18 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Music is provided by the Utterback Middle School String Ensemble.

JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTER. 3800 E. River Road. 299-3000. Galerie Yoramgil of Beverly Hills brings Israeli art exploring both traditional and current trends. A reception for the artists is held on Sunday, January 20 at 4 p.m. Show continues through January 30. RAICES TALLER 222 GALLERY. 222 E. Sixth St. 881-5335. Small works by Raices Taller members Paco Ballesteros, Cristina Cardenas, Gonzalo Espinosa, Ceci Garcia and others plus guest artist Sonia Barr are exhibited Friday, January 4 with a reception from 1 to 5 pm. TUCSON/PIMA ARTS COUNCIL. 240 N. Stone Ave. 624-9977. Exploring the Evolution of Art and Life showcases UA-based artists working in video, installation, performance, photography and assemblage. Continues through February 23: Watercolors by Bruce McGrew plus recent paintings by his Philadelphia colleagues Murray Dressner and Elizabeth Osborne are on display. DRAWING STUDIO. 214 N. Fourth Ave. Random Acts of Art is a silent auction of art angels to benefit the Drawing Studio continuing through Friday, January 25. Artists donating work in clay, wood, fiber, metal, glass and mixed media are members of the Arizona Designer Craftsmen. Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Slap Happy is an exhibition of video, installation and photography by UA professor Kenneth Shorr, and Toys in the Basement by Tucson artist Mark Murray features sculptures of found objects.
