GARDENINGEvents This Week ETHNOBOTANY WORKSHOP. Tucson Botanical Gardens. 2150 N. Alvernon Way. 326-9686, ext. 23. Ingrid Fingal dyes wool and cotton samples using traditional Southwest dye plants and environmentally friendly procedures. Fingal discusses the history of natural dying, sources for dyes and equipment, and inspiration for creating finished products with naturally dyed fibers. Wear old clothes (staining is possible) and bring rubber gloves. Cost of the workshop is $20 for garden members and $25 for nonmembers.

Gardening for the Newcomer classes meet from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. the first Thursday and third Saturday of the month. Xeriscape classes meet the second Saturday of the month from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Cost is $6, and includes admission; it?s $4 for garden members. Regular admission to the gardens is $4 general, $3 for seniors, $1 for children 6 to 11 and free for members and children under 5. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. The garden nursery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays-Sundays. Call 326-9686 for information.
