Mark Santiago, director of the New Mexico Museum of Space History, presents Esteemed in Importance: The Antebellum History of Fort Yuma, 1850-1861 July 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. Santiago discusses Fort Yuma's importance as a post securing the area against hostile Indian tribes, Mexican revolutionaries and American and French filibusters and more. Admission costs $6, $5 for Historical Society members and $3 for students with I.D. The entire lecture series costs $30 for members, $36 for nonmembers and $18 for students.
