Mike Schwartz from the Tucson Arts Brigade presents the "Spring into Action Community Mural Project" July 12 from noon to 2 p.m. The theme of the mural is the celebration of spring in the desert. Kids are invited to help design, create and paint the mural. Admission is free and open to all kids and parents.

Tickets are $3 per person, $5 for two children and $2 for people with AHCCCS card or low-income bus pass. Kids can get up close and personal with the puppets after each show and the audience gets a chance to make a simple puppet to take home. The theater is wheelchair accessible. This five-day morning camp explores bats and their importance as pollinators for Sonoran Desert plants. A trip to a bat habitat at Kartchner Caverns is planned for the last day of camp, July 27, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Camp runs July 23-26 from 8 a.m. to noon and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays. Cost of the camp is $90 for garden members and $95 for non-members. Call for information and to register.
SUMMER CAMP FOR KIDS WITH ARTHRITIS. Camp Cruz is a five-day (August 7-12) residential camping experience for kids ages 7 to 17 who have juvenile arthritis. The camp is located outside Show Low among the tall pines of the White Mountains. Programs and activities are planned to help campers develop new skills, increase self-esteem, enhance leadership abilities and take responsibility for their health. Activities include horseback riding, swimming, arts and crafts, nature walks and fishing. Cost of the camp is $125; full scholarships are available. SUMMER STORYTIME. Enjoy special summer storytimes each Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Sabino Canyon Visitor's Center. Children 3-8, accompanied by an adult, learn about local desert-related themes. The regular fee for Sabino Canyon ($5 for a day pass or $20 for an annual pass) is waived for storytime.
TUCSON-PIMA PUBLIC LIBRARY STORYTIMES. Storytime teaches children an appreciation for reading, and events are tailored to specific age groups including babies, toddlers, preschoolers, school-agers and family. Admission is free. Call 791-4391 for age-specific times.
