CRITTERS IN THE GARDEN. Tucson Botanical Gardens. 2150 N. Alvernon Way. 326-9686, ext. 10. A five-day morning camp that explores the many wonderful creatures that inhabit plants, flowers and hidden nooks in the gardens takes place June 18-22 from 8 a.m. to noon daily. Kids learn about bugs, snails, butterflies, birds and more. Cost of the camp is $65 for garden members and $70 for non-members.
FARMACY GARDEN. 2450 S. Cottonwood Lane. 622-2241. The Farmacy Garden offers classes, workshops, teaching opportunities and internships in sustainable desert gardening. This 9-acre organic farm produces vegetables, medicinal and culinary herbs and flowers. The Farmacy Garden is a non-profit organization serving low-income singles and families lacking health insurance.
GARDENING DEMONSTRATION. Marana Planning Services Center. 3696 W. Orange Grove Road. Learn how to protect plants from summer sun and heat May 24 at 2 p.m. Learn the pros and cons of patio and container gardening May 31 at 2 p.m. All events are free and sponsored by the Pima County Cooperative Extension Garden Center.
GARDENING FOR THE NEWCOMER. Tucson Botanical Gardens. 2150 N. Alvernon Way. 326-9686. Gardening for the Newcomer classes meet from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. the first Thursday and third Saturday of the month. Xeriscape classes meet the second Saturday of the month from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Cost is $6, and includes admission; it?s $4 for garden members. Regular admission to the gardens is $4 general, $3 for seniors, $1 for children 6 to 11 and free for members and children under 5. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. The garden nursery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays-Sundays. Call 326-9686 for information.
