Ildiko Melis presents Arts of the Hungarian Contact Zone April 11 at 7 p.m. Melis discusses the ways that small nations survive the shifting of large empires across their territory and mental landscape. FLY-FISHING. Dry Creek Outfitters. 5450 E. Broadway Blvd. 326-7847. Baja on the Fly owner Gary Graham serves up a taste of saltwater fly-fishing April 7 at noon. Graham's free two-hour audio/visual program features fly-fishing from the beach, small boats and blue water cruisers along the East Cape area of Baja California. Graham also conducts a fly-casting demonstration showing techniques for hooking and landing saltwater species.

Noshir Contractor, professor of speech communication and psychology at the University of Illinois, discusses Co-evolution of Knowledge Networks and 21st-Century Organizational Forms April 9 from 3 to 4:40 p.m. Admission is free. NAFTA FOR THE AMERICAS. UA Law School, Room 140. Tom Hansen, Latin American activist and national coordinator of the Mexico Solidarity Network, presents this talk April 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. Hansen discusses the potential expansion of NAFTA to the rest of the western hemisphere, calling it the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA). Admission is free. Hansen presents a six-hour workshop called Corporate Agenda vs. People's Agenda April 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Quaker House at 931 N. Fifth Ave. The workshop focuses on globalization and its impacts on ordinary people. Cost of the workshop is $10 and includes lunch. How Lack of Self Worth Makes Us Unavailable to Each Other is part of the Unresolvable Losses series by Patti Harada. The series presents a health-promoting, self-reverent model of resolving the chronic conflict that prevents us from forming loving relationships with each other. The lecture takes place April 11 from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is $10 at the door.

Anthropologist and Hopi tribal judge Emory Sekaquaptewa presents The Hopi Language and its Impact on Culture and Art April 5 at 2 p.m. Admission is $10 for center members and $15 for non-members.
