The University of Arizona printmakers exhibit Mimesis 7 features more than 40 printmaking artists, including Lora Alaniz, Chris Aguilar, Shelia Bonar, Darden Bradshaw, Satoka Cho, Monika Dalkin, Betty Davis, Tracy Featherstone, SJ Gibson, Veronica Gonzales, Maria Le, Veronica Leybas, Threesa Redinger, John Ritchie, Cerese Vaden and Melanie Yazzie. Van Gogh Fakes, which opens April 6 and continues through May 31, features local artists whose works reinvent the diverse expressions of Vincent Van Gogh. Artists have faked, forged and revealed a complexity of references made possible by one of the most impassioned artists of the 19th century. Congress St. The Mystery Show, an exhibit of intrigue and captivation, features the work of more than 25 local and national artists, including Maurice Grossman, Catherine Sohn, Mary Bates, Terrol Dew Johnson, Joe Labate, Glenn Johnson, Kristen Heist, Sylvia Garland, Monkia Dalkin, Keith McElroy, Patrick Nagatani, Farzad Nakhi, Moira Geoffrion, Sandra Raymond, Melanie Yazzie, Cerese Vadden, Kelly Morris and Dean Hammerly. The exhibit continues through April 22. An AIDS benefit finale is April 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Patrons are invited to play on semi-functional game boards that reflect their artist-designers' unique style and creativity. Continuing through May 4: In Cynthia Miller: Domestica, Miller uses the stimulus of remembered objects and interiors to define her subject matter, an organic process of struggling with and then controlling the medium that determines the final painting. MOSAICS WORKSHOP. Tubac Center of the Arts. 9 Plaza Road, Tubac. Learn the technique of direct-application mosaics with artisan Maggie Milinovitch April 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students will create a mosaic-framed mirror working with tile, glass and stone. ARIZONA BIENNIAL. Arizona's only juried biennial exhibition will be held at the Tucson Museum of Art June 8 through August 5. Arizona Biennial 2001 is open to all artists residing in Arizona, working in all media. The prospectus for the competition is available at the museum at 140 N. Main Ave., by calling 624-2333 or by e-mailing cbodden@tucsonarts.com. All entry forms and slides must be received no later than 5 p.m. April 13. Notification of results will be mailed May 4.

ART MARKET. The Tucson Arts District seeks artists to exhibit and sell their work at the Art2 Art Market. Submit three slides with name, address and phone plus a SASE to Tucson Arts District Partnership, Attention Regina, P.O. Box 3009, Tucson, AZ 85702. Deadlines are April 16 for the May 5 market and May 14 for the June 2 market. ART WORKSHOPS. The Science of Mind Center offers a series of art workshops the last Friday of each month from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Classes include watercolor collage, acrylics, acrylic collage, faux stonewall sculpture and scratch art. CALL TO ARTISTS. The Laclede's Landing Foundation in St. Louis, Mo., will commission 11 public artworks in the next five to seven years. All projects have budgets in the $35,000 to $50,000 range. Ceramist John Guerin teaches a Level 1 Traditional Pottery Making workshop Saturdays from 2 to 5 p.m. starting April 7 and continuing through May 26. The $69 fee includes all materials except clay, which students will dig on their own during a class field trip. TRIANGLE PROJECT. The Tucson Arts Brigade seeks work for its Triangle Project. Artists may submit as many triangles as needed, in any media, color, etc. Triangles must be 4-by-4-by-4. Any subject matter that interprets the theme of unity and diversity is acceptable. All triangles will be assembled into a single work of art April 12 from 6 to 8 p.m., hence no work will be returned.
