CHOROVAYA AKADEMIA. UA Crowder Hall. 621-3341. Moscow's captivating men's a cappella choir performs selections from its best-selling recording, Ancient Echoes, which is imbued with the traditions of Russian Orthodox music, March 10 at 8 p.m. and March 11 at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $35. A free Arts Encounter takes place 45 minutes before the performance in a room adjacent to the hall.

CONNIE WARREN. Warren will be joined by an eight-piece band when she performs show tunes and standards this Sunday, March 11 at 7 p.m. at the Pima Community College Center for the Arts Proscenium Theater. DAUGHTERS OF AFRICA. Kiva auditorium, UA education building. 1430 E. Second St. UA Africana Studies presents this music-driven journey through the histories of African American women from slavery to the 21st century, featuring songs made famous by Lena Horne, Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin, Janet Jackson and others. Admission to the March 8, 7:30 performance is free.

DIDO AND AENEAS. Catalina Foothills High School. 4300 E. Sunrise Drive. The Catalina Chamber Orchestra and the Tucson Girls Chorus perform Henry Purcell's 1689 opera March 10 at 7:30 p.m. and March 11 at 3 p.m. Dido, the noble Queen of Carthage, falls in love with the Trojan prince Aeneas. But while the court celebrates the imminent union of the two monarchs, an evil sorceress plots their downfall. Korby Myrick and Eric Deaver sing the principal roles. DRUMMING CIRCLE. Unitarian Universalist Church. 4831 E. 22nd St. Drummers of all ages beat together on the third Friday of each month. The drumming circle takes place outdoors, weather permitting. Participants are urged to bring drums, rattles, bells, sticks and other instruments. The next free community drumming takes place March 16 at 7 p.m.

EL PUEBLO JAM. El Pueblo Neighborhood Center. 101 W. Irvington Road. 622-6973. All instruments, all ages, all kinds of music! All are welcome every Friday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. The next jam is March 9.

FOR SENTIMENTAL REASONS. PCC Center for the Arts Proscenium Theater. 2202 W. Anklam Road. Connie Warren sings powerhouse standards, Broadway hits and swing sensations March 11 at 7 p.m. Musical selections include a range of tunes made famous by Bette Midler, Ella Fitzgerald and Liza Minnelli. One of America's top Irish entertainers plays tenor banjo, mandolin and sings with guests Marie Reilly, Martin Reilly, Todd Denman, Robbie O'Connell and two champion Irish step-dancers. OZOMATLI. Rialto Theatre. 318 Congress St. 621-8046. As part of its west coast tour, the group performs its blend of hip-hop, funk and Latin groove March 8 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 and $15.

SONORAN CONSORT. Grace St. Paul's Episcopal Church. 2331 E. Adams St. 327-6857. The innovative new-music ensemble performs March 10 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10 at the door.

TUCSON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA POPS CONCERT. TCC Music Hall. 260 S. Church Ave. 882-8585. Maestro George Hanson is joined by soprano Nancy Davis Booth, along with mezzo Hillary Nicholson, tenor Douglas Ahlstedt and baritone Paul Kreider for an evening of opera arias that are recognizable through radio, movies and television, in a program called Opera Goes Prime Time March 9-10 at 7:30 p.m. and March 11 at 2 p.m. Tickets range from $13 to $32.

TUCSON WINTER CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL. TCC Leo Rich Theatre. 260 S. Church Ave. 577-3769. Presented by the Arizona Friends of Chamber Music through March 11, the five-concert festival features music of Russian composers Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, Stravinsky, Borodin, Glinka, Glazunov, Moszkowski and Taneyev performed by cellist Peter Rejto and 16 other musicians, including the Grammy-nominated St. Petersburg String Quartet and oboist Allan Vogel. Tickets to individual concerts cost $15 general, $5 for students with ID.
