AMERICAN INDIAN EXPOSITION. Flamingo Hotel Ballroom. 1300 N. Stone Ave. The exposition features authentic handmade crafts by artisans from more than 50 American Indian tribes, including Acoma Pueblo artist Wayna Keene; the Dakota Drum Company; Zuni, Hopi and Aztec crafts; and the Sunshine Indian Music Group. ARIZONA HISTORICAL SOCIETY MUSEUM. 949 E. Second St. 628-5775. Folklorist James Griffith presents legends and tales surrounding various Catholic saints in Arizona and Sonora based on his book Saints of the Southwest February 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is free.

ART WALK. The ArtWalk is a free, guided tour that explores downtown galleries and studios and includes talks by artists and small, private receptions. Parking is free, but reservations are recommended. ArtWalk meets Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Asseble at Redeemed Art Gallery/Derks Studio, 801 N. Main Ave., February 8 between 5 and 5:30 p.m. for refreshments. Steven Derks presents a sculpture demonstration and talk from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

CONQUER CANCER AT "A" MOUNTAIN. The American Cancer Society's Climb to Conquer Cancer mounts Sentinel Peak February 10 from 8 a.m. to noon. The climb benefits the American Cancer Society's programs of research, education, advocacy and service. Call 321-7989 to register and for more information.

DESIGNER SHOWHOUSE 2001. 5401 E. River Road. 624-2333, ext 109. The Designer Showhouse 2001 features a 3,400-square-foot hacienda style home built in 1979. The showhouse is open February 11 through March 18. Admission is $10 per person.

HALAU HULA KA NO'EAU. Centennial Hall. University of Arizona. 621-3341. Sponsored by UApresents. Halau Hula Ka No'Eau reveals the artistry and expression of Hawaiian dance February 13 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets range in price from $22 to $34.

JUST FOR GIRLS. Our Savior's Lutheran Church. 1949 E. Helen St. Just for Girls: Sister to Sister Summit for Middle and Junior High School Girls takes place February 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The summit discusses topics such as peer pressure, violence, smoking, drugs and alcohol and sexual harassment. LA REUNION DE EL FUERTE. Fort Lowell Park. East parking lot off Glenn Street. Follow the footsteps of the Hohokam, the Mormon farmers, soldiers, and settlers from Mexico with a free, self-guided walking tour to historic sites in the Old Fort Lowell Neighborhood February 10 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Also enjoy performances in the park by the Fourth Cavalry Regimental Band from 1 to 2:30 p.m., mariachi music from 2 to 4 p.m., the Southern Arizona Old Time Fiddlers from 2 to 3 p.m. and an open house at the Isidro Ochoa home from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Call 318-0219 for more information.

LESBIAN LOOKS FILM SERIES. University of Arizona Modern Languages auditorium. A screening of Johnny Greyeyes, a tightly woven narrative that takes place within the walls of a women's prison, takes place February 10 at 7:30 p.m. Also on the agenda is Below the Belt, a short film about two 17-year-old girls exploring their budding relationship in and out of the boxing ring. Admission is free.

MATA ORTIZ POTTERY DEMONSTRATION. Arte Spazio Gallery. 5101 N. Oracle Road. 792-2096. Damian Quezada, from the village of Mata Ortiz in Chihuahua, Mexico, demonstrates his pottery skills February 9 from 3 to 9 p.m., February 10 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and February 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy Italian cookies and coffee daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST. Salvation Army Temple Corps. 1001 N. Richey Blvd. The Salvation Army hosts a pancake breakfast February 10 from 8 to 10 a.m. All you can eat pancakes, served with one egg, two bacon strips or sausage links and drinks, is $3 for adults and $1.75 for children 12 and younger. PAPER FROM SCRATCH. Tucson Audubon Society. 300 E. University Blvd. Join Native Seeds/SEARCH and Catherine Nash for an intensive hands-on workshop creating beautiful translucent paper from a variety of plant materials, using both Western and Japanese sheet forming techniques. Emphasis will be on what can be achieved in the home studio. A fee of $75 ($65 for NS/S members) covers the 7 to 8:30 p.m. lecture Friday, February 16 and one-day workshop (Either Saturday February 17 or Sunday February 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) or $125 for two days of workshops. RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL. Join in the rambunctious revelry of the Renaissance Festival on the 30-acre theme park at the foothills of the Superstition Mountains every weekend in February and March, including Presidents' Day, Monday February 19, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. There are 12 stages of nonstop performances of music, dance an dcomedy. Enjoy a day of entertainment, shopping and fabulous food with a cast of nearly 2000. Advance tickets are $14, $5 for children 5-12 and are available at Fry's Food and Drug Stores. SANS SOLEIL. University of Arizona Modern Languages auditorium. There is a free screening of Sans Soleil, an intimate portrait of Tokyo, February 9 at 7:30 p.m. Also screening is La JettÉ, a science-fiction short.

SENIOR OLYMPIC FESTIVAL. This celebration of fitness is held at 29 locations around Tucson and promotes health, fitness and an active lifestyle for seniors ages 50 and over, regardless of ability, experience or age. First-day events include opening ceremonies, activity fair, parade and track and field competition at Drachman Stadium. Closing ceremonies take place February 10 at the Reid Park DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center. Events encompass 30 activities from aerobics to volleyball and seven non-athletic events from cards to chess. For more information call the Senior Olympics office at 791-4865.

SICK & TWISTED ANIMATION FESTIVAL. Loft Cinema. 3233 E. Speedway Blvd. Spike and Mike's Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation is not for those with an overly refined artistic palate. The festival hosts animated short films that are too rude, crude and lewd for the more prestigious and tasteful Classic Festival of Animation. Short animated films to be screened include The Hangnail, Wheelchair Rebecca, Rejected, Angry Kid and Beat the Brat, among others. The festival continues through February 17. Tickets are $7 at the door or in advance through Ticketmaster at 321-1000.

SPAGHETTI SWEETHEART. Amphi Corps. 218 E. Prince Road. Treat your sweetheart to a delicious and affordable dinner and benefit charity February 14 at 6 p.m. The Valentine spaghetti dinner is $3 and open to the public. Proceeds from the event go to the self-denial missionary projects of the Home League, a Christian women's senior fellowship group dedicated to serving the needs of at-risk youth in the community. TUCSON RODEO PARADE EQUIPMENT MUSEUM. Rodeo Grounds at the corner of South Sixth Street and Irvington Road. 294-1280. Museum hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays through February 16. Admission is free, although donations are accepted.

WAREHOUSE DISTRICT WALKING TOUR. A tour of Tucson's historic warehouse district takes place February 10 from 9 to 11 a.m. The tour includes an overview of the area's history and brief visits to interiors that serve as artist's studios. The Oracle Film Lovers' Club presents Sweet Smell of Success with Tony Curtis and Burt Lancaster February 17 at 7:30 p.m. The fast-paced drama about ruthless agents and journalists in New York's theater world features a vibrant score from the Chico Hamilton quintet. FLOWER SHOW AND CHOCOLATE TASTING. Boyce Thompson Arboretum. 37615 Highway 60, Superior. Enjoy a living display of plants and blossoms designed to interpret the language of flowers February 10-11 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition, sample a tempting array of decadent Belgian chocolates. TUBAC FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS. Tubac, 45 miles south of Tucson on I-19. (520) 398-2704. Continuing through February 11: The festival features more than 200 artists displaying and selling their works. Local musicians entertain and visitors can sample a variety of international foods. Featured artist Amado Peóa autographs the festival's official posters. Admission is free and parking is $4. A free horse-drawn trolley provides transportation to and from the village.

WINTER NATURE TOURS. Southeastern Arizona Bird Observatory. Birds of prey and sandhill cranes are the stars of the winter nature tours hosted by the Southeastern Arizona Bird Observatory. Half-day tours, which depart from Bisbee's historic district at 9 a.m. and return by 12:30 p.m., continue through February 25. The $30-per-person tours include transportation in a 15-passenger bus. Hawk Stalk tours depart at 8 a.m. and return by 4 p.m. The fee is $55 per person and includes transportation and lunch at a local restaurant.
