Dance the night away with the KGB band January 27 from 8 to 11 p.m. Has it been a while since you put on your dancing shoes? Then drop by at 7 p.m. for a dance lesson. Admission is $5 and includes lesson, dance and refreshments.

ODYSSEY 2001. Centennial Hall. University of Arizona Campus. 621-3341. The UA Dance Ensemble with Orts Theatre of Dance and Ballet Tucson present Odyssey 2001 January 31 at 7:30 p.m. The program features Carmina Burana, which is danced to Carl Orff's score; Classical Symphony, set to the music of Prokofiev; Indri's Dream, which is based on a story of a Hindu girl and her love for Krishna; and Balanced Edge, a piece that blurs the lines between dance, poetry, video and music. Tickets are $8 and $10 at the Centennial Hall box office.

PILOBOLUS DANCE THEATRE. Centennial Hall. University of Arizona. 621-3341. Sponsored by UApresents, Pilobolus dances with the Klezmatics in a new, co-commissioned work that concentrates on "holy sparks"--passion, loneliness, confusion--January 26 and 27 at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $22 to $38. A free Arts Encounter discussion takes place 45 minutes before each performance in room 102 of the Center for English as a Second Language, 1100 E. North Campus Drive, just north of Centennial Hall.

SNAKE DANCE. UA Museum of Art. UA campus near Park Avenue and Speedway Boulevard. 621-7567. UA dance students perform a snake dance January 28 at 2 p.m. to coincide with the museum's exhibit of 50 sketches and sculptures, including a 40-foot-long Great Rain Snake, by artist Robert Stackhouse. Admission is free.

VIRANGANA. Berger Performing Arts Center, Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind. 1200 W. Speedway Blvd. The India Cultural Association of Tucson presents Virangana, an ancient classical dance form of South India, to benefit the Brewster Center for victims of domestic violence, January 27 at 8 p.m. Virangana profiles five different images of courage among Indian women from Indian mythology, history and contemporary times. This dance drama features graduate and undergraduate students from the Arathi School, and UA and ASU students. Tickets range in price from $15 to $45 and are available through Ticketmaster at 321-1000 and Wherehouse Music, Tower Records and Robinsons-May.

Move It Dance Company presents The Women's Initiative for Youth and Elders, a multicultural, intergenerational dance project that seeks to guide women through critical passages in their lives.
