ARTE Y BOCADITO FESTIVAL. El Centro Cultural de las Americas. 40 W. Broadway Blvd. 770-1245. Arte y Bocadito features art from El Centro Gallery and food prepared by the artists. A sale of fine art and crafts also takes place at the December 2, 3 to 6 p.m. event. Enjoy Spanish Christmas carols and $1 bocaditos. Admission is free.

ART SALE BENEFIT. Ha:san Preparatory and Leadership School. 1333 E. Tenth St. 624-4130. A holiday art sale sponsored by the Guatemala Acupuncture and Medical Aid Project December 2 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. features the work of local painters Leonard Chana, Glenn Johnson and Howard Harrison. Jewelry, beadwork, painted gourds, pottery, hand-woven textiles and Guatemalan-style food are also for sale.

ART WALK. Take a walk through the Arts District December 7 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Meet at the T/PAC Community Gallery at 240 N. Stone Ave. at 5 p.m. and visit Hazmat Gallery, Solar Culture, McCain & Carreras Studios, Zee's, Alamo Gallery, and Ouroboros Stone Art Gallery.

AUDUBON CENTER DESERT LIFE SERIES. Mason Audubon Center. 8751 N. Thornydale Road. Winter Visitors features a presentation on the plants and animals active at the center in winter, including migrating birds. Participants conduct a mini wildlife survey and learn the dos and don'ts of feeding hummingbirds in the winter December 2 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. A maximum of 30 participants is allowed for the free event. CAROLING FESTIVAL. A caroling festival, which begins after the Downtown Holiday Parade December 2 at 7 p.m., features mini-carol sings at the Tucson Museum of Art, La Placita Village, Art Square and the Main Library. From these points, carolers sing their way to the Ronstadt Transit Center where all carolers join for a community carol sing-along at 8 p.m. Performances by local choirs and musicians including Linda Lou and the Merry Minstrels continue until 10 p.m. Call 624-9977 for more information.

Two Christmas-themed movies--Let the Deserts be Joyful and How the Grinch Stole Christmas--will screen Saturday, December 2 at 5 p.m. Admission is free. La Placita's restaurants are open for dinner prior to the screenings.

DOLL TEA. Salvation Army Temple Corps. 1001 N. Richey Blvd. 795-9671. This auction of new dolls and teddy bears in handcrafted costumes begins December 6 at 9:30 a.m. Proceeds benefit holiday assistance programs for local youth.

DOWNTOWN SATURDAY NIGHT. Head downtown and enjoy a holiday art market December 2 from 4 to 10 p.m. The guest artist is painter/sculptor Jessica McCain and the featured artist is metal sculptor Ned Egen. Also on the agenda is classical holiday music by the Tucson Junior Strings from 5 to 9 p.m. Like to sing? Then you'll want to join in the community carol sing at 7 p.m. A wine-tasting at the Barrio, 135 S. Sixth Ave., from 7 to 9 p.m. has cookies and hot cider for the kids.

HOLIDAY GIFT AND CRAFT FAIR. Tucson Jewish Community Center. 3800 E. River Road. 299-3000, ext. 147. Bring the entire family to this holiday craft fair December 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. that features a magic show, train rides, an appearance by Winnie the Pooh, and a jumping castle and climbing wall for the kids. HOLIDAY LUNCHEON. Tucson Country Club. 2950 N. Camino Principal. The Tucson Symphony Women's Association's holiday fund-raising luncheon December 6 at 11 a.m. features winners of the Southern Arizona Young Artists Competition who perform on piano, strings, woodwinds and brass. Tickets cost $30 and can be purchased by calling 325-6372. Proceeds benefit the association's scholarship fund.

OLD FASHIONED CHRISTMAS. 180 N. Main Ave. 624-2333. Follow the luminarias and join old Saint Nick in the turn-of-the-century Corbett House December 2 from 4 to 8 p.m. Santa is available for picture-taking, so dress to thrill!

OLD WORLD CELEBRATIONS. Pima Community College West Campus cafeteria. 2202 W. Anklam Road. The Barbea Williams Performing Co. in conjunction with the PCC African American Culture Club-East presents Old World Holiday Celebrations with dance, song and music December 1 from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $5 in advance and $6 at the door. OPEN HOUSE TOUR. The innkeepers of Tucson open their doors December 3 from noon to 5 p.m. to benefit Casa de los Niños Crisis Nursery. Visit bed and breakfasts decorated for the holidays and enjoy a special Southwestern holiday treat at each. Visit all seven inns on the tour for a donation of $10. POLITICAL PUPPET FILM. The Screening Room. 127 E. Congress St. The Arizona Media Arts Center and The Screening Room present the world premiere of The Cledd Continuum, a local, self-produced musical puppet movie by artist, musician, videographer and filmmaker Dennis The Red. Created along with a small crew of volunteers, this puppet musical is a handcrafted tale of social commentary, politics, self-discovery and wacky laughs. The Cledd Continuum plays on Saturday, December 2 at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. Single admission is $4. Saver passes are available for $15 for 5 admissions. For information call 622-2262.

TREASURES, ODDITIES AND DINNER. Elle Wine Country Restaurant. 3048 E. Broadway Blvd. The Friends of the University of Arizona Library present treasures and delights from its Special Collections December 4. A reception at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. precede the 8 p.m. presentation. Dinner and presentation is $45 per person. TRUNK SHOW AND BENEFIT SALE. Native craft expert and trader Terry DeWald shares his knowledge of native weaving, carving and ceramic traditions at this December 2, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. sale. There are dozens of vintage 19th- and early 20th-century Navajo weavings, baskets and other items to choose from. Call 626-8381 for more details. There is an Arizona State Museum members-only preview and reception December 1 from 6 to 8 p.m.

WINTER STREET SALE. Main Avenue between Sixth and Franklin streets. The El Presidio Historic District Winter Street Sale (art, antiques, furniture, collectibles) takes place December 3 from 8 a.m. to noon.

WORLD AIDS DAY. International Arts Center. 512 N. Fifth Ave. 628-7223. The ceremony, which takes place December 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., includes the unfolding of the Tucson Remembrance Quilt, music, dance and speakers living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Anonymous HIV testing is provided on-site by the Pima County Health Department.

Out of Town

ALL RIVER CHRISTMAS FAIR. The Cascabel Community's December 2 and 3, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Christmas fair celebrates rural Arizona's beauty, history and hospitality. Begin the shopping tour near milepost 15 on Cascabel Road with Mott's Cabin and continue north eight miles to the San Pedro Mesquite Company, with seven sites to visit along the way. Area artists display their work in fiber, pottery, wood, jewelry, country crafts and more. Refreshments are available along the route and a lunch menu is served midway at Sun Station. WINTER NATURE TOURS. Southeastern Arizona Bird Observatory. Birds of prey and Sandhill cranes are the stars of the winter nature tours hosted by the Southeastern Arizona Bird Observatory. Half-day tours, which depart from Bisbee's historic district at 9 a.m. and return by 12:30 p.m., continue through February 25. The $30-per person tours include transportation in a 15-passenger bus. Hawk Stalk tours depart at 8 a.m. and return by 4 p.m. The fee is $55 per person and includes transportation and lunch at a local restaurant.
