ARTWALK. The Tucson Arts Districts Thursday night ArtWalk November 16 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. meets at the Phantom Gallery at 4 E. The Cadillac LaSalle Club Saguaro Region's Classic Cadillac show features more than 40 priceless Cadillac and LaSalle automobiles from the 1930s to the '90s. Some of the special vehicles on display include a 1959 custom-built Cadillac ambulance and a rare 1940 four-door convertible LaSalle. The free exhibit takes place November 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

COWBOY/WESTERN AUCTION. Four Points Sheraton Hotel. 350 S. Freeway. The Western Music Association's cowboy/western auction (live and silent) features cowboy memorabilia, collectibles, art, rare records, autographed hats, photos and more November 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., November 17 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m., and November 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m. Call 743-9794 for more details.

DINNER AND A MOVIE. International Wildlife Museum. 4800 W. Gates Pass Road. GREAT AMERICAN SMOKEOUT. American Cancer Society. 1636 N. Swan Road. Join the American Caner Society for the 24th annual Great American Smokeout Thursday November 16 from 7 to 9 a.m. Quit Kits are available for pick up all week long.

GREAT COVER UP. Club Congress. 311 E. Congress St. Twenty bands perform for 20 minutes each doing covers of well-known bands at The Great Cover Up November 16 and 17 at 7 p.m. The event will be recorded live with a CD release party scheduled sometime in January. Proceeds benefit the women and children of The Brewster Center Domestic Violence Services, Inc. Advance admission is $10 for two nights; it's $7 per evening at the door.

HEAVENLY MANUSCRIPTS. Steward Observatory, room N210. 1510 E. University Blvd. 621-6288. Continuing through November 17: Heavenly Manuscripts: The Renaissance of Astronomy features early astronomy manuscripts and texts from the library's special collections. Many of the rare books and manuscripts in the exhibit were published in the 16th and 17th centuries in Europe. Exhibition hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.

HITCHCOCK TRIBUTE. Nimbus Brewing & Tap Room. 3850 E. 44th Street. Nimbus Brewery pays tribute to Alfred Hitchcock with free screenings of Rear Window and Vertigo November 22 at 7 p.m. Free popcorn, thrills and chills.

JER'ME BEILLARD FESTIVAL FOR LIFE. Marriott University Park Ballroom. 880 E. Second St. This art and holiday gift auction, which benefits services for people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS, is a fun and elegant event where people bid on live and silent auctions for art, gift baskets, celebrity memorabilia and designer-decorated, 8-foot holiday trees. Other auction items include round-trip tickets to Australia, Kevin Osborn pottery, and original art work. The November 19, 4 to 7 p.m. event includes a dessert buffet and cash bar. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Call the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation at 628-7223 to reserve tickets, to volunteer or to obtain more information. Volunteers are needed to assist in designing displays, setting up and taking down, and monitoring the auction.

PARENTS CONFERENCE. Sunnyside High School auditorium. 1725 E. Bilby Road. A free conference for parents about math, reading, AIMS and gangs takes place in English and Spanish November 18 from 7:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. The keynote speaker for the free event is Rosa Guerrero, artist, educator and founder of the International Folklorico Dance Group. RABBIT AND CAVY SHOW. Pima County Fair Grounds. Pima Hall. See and learn about the 60 different breeds of rabbit and guinea pig at the Southern Arizona Rabbit Breeders Association's show November 18 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

SALT OF THE EARTH. Come celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Empire Zinc Strike, depicted in the classic working class film Salt of the Earth. The screening is at 1 p.m. Sunday, November 19 at the Northwest Neighborhood Center, 2160 N. Sixth Ave. A dinner and evening of poetry and music features a keynote address by Isabel Garcia and begins a 6 p.m. in the same location. Reservations are required. SATURDAY CRAFT MARKET. The Tucson Arts District hosts its Saturday Craft Market at the Ronstadt Transit Center November 18 from 7 to 10 p.m. A variety of unique crafts, food and beverages will be available. Live entertainment begins at 7 p.m.

SCIENCE DAY. UA Arizona Ballroom, Senior Ballroom and Student Union. Geared toward elementary school children, this event emphasizes science and math and their importance in everyday life. The day consists of laboratory tours, hands-on activities and a chemistry show. Lunch, T-shirts and educational packets are provided for all attendees November 16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The annual event benefits fourth- and fifth-graders at local elementary schools. STAR PARTY. Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. 2021 N. Kinney Road. 882-1950. The Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association and the Desert Museum host a star party November 18 from 5:30 to 11 p.m. View the night sky through telescopes owned by members of the Astronomy Association in the museum's main parking lot. Astronomers answer questions about telescopes and the night sky. The museum grounds, gift shops and restaurants will not be open during the event. Admission is free.

THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE. The Salvation Army's annual food drive is November 17 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The group is seeking donations of turkeys, pumpkin pies and other Thanksgiving fixings for its annual Thanksgiving dinner. Food drop locations are Safeway supermarkets at Golf Links and Kolb roads, Broadway Boulevard and Campbell Avenue, and Ina and Oracle roads. Call 795-9671 for details.

TMA HOLIDAY CRAFT MARKET. Tucson Museum of Art Plaza of the Pioneers and courtyards. 140 N. Main Ave. The Tucson Museum of Art's Holiday Craft Market, November 17-19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., features more than 130 of the finest artisans in the Southwest. Choose from a variety of handmade works including glass art, pottery, jewelry, leather, watercolors and more. Admission is free and proceeds benefit many community and children's programs.

TURKEY STUFFING CONTEST. Tucson Mall. 4500 N. Oracle Road. The Salvation Army's annual contest, consisting of teams of four people representing local media and businesses, takes place November 19 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The contest launches the Salvation Army's holiday programs, including Christmas kettles and bell ringers; the Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day dinners; Adopt-A-Family for disadvantaged families; and Christmas Angel, a program that provides clothing and toys to needy children. The Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild presents an auction of 50 original watercolor paintings by Julia Marshall November 19 from 3 to 6 p.m. The event includes gourmet refreshments and a no-host bar. All proceeds benefit a youth scholarship.

WRATH OF GOD: UA Modern Languages auditorium. There is a screening of Werner Herzog's visually stunning film Aguirre, the Wrath of God, about the megalomaniac dream of the Spanish conquistadors, November 17 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.

WINE FESTIVAL. I-10 east to exit 281 (Highway 83), to Highway 82; turn right on Elgin Road and follow the signs to the winery in Elgin. Sonoita Vineyards showcases its latest vintages at the 15th annual St. Martin's New Release Festival November 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $7.50 per person and includes wine tasting, winery tours, a souvenir wine glass and live music.
