JANE AUSTEN DAY. Sheraton Tucson Hotel. Join the Jane Austen Society of North America (JASMA) October 28 for a day immersed in all things Austen. Registration with coffee and tea service begins at 9 a.m. The program, which includes lunch, is $28 per person and runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Reservations are required and must be made by October 21. CALL TO WRITERS. The Missing Fez, a quarterly publication of unconventional and abnormal literature, is seeking fiction (one to 20 pages) and poems (three to five per submission). There is a $3 reading fee, payable to Red Felt Publishing.

WRITING WORKSHOP. Pima Community College Center. 2202 W. Anklam Road. Borderlands Theater is sponsoring Project Tucson: Finding Family Stories, a biography-writing workshop with playwright Luis Alfaro, through October 28. Students will learn to write their own histories, create maps, and document neighborhoods as well as interview residents in their communities. Writers of all levels are welcome.
