AIDS WALK 2000. Rillito Downs. First Avenue, one block south of River Road. Join in a benefit walk for the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation October 22 at 9 a.m. This year's walk features a redesigned walker route that includes a 4K and a 10K route. ANZA DAYS. Tubac Presidio State Historic Park. Gather up the family and head to Tubac October 21 and 22 for Anza Days, which features historic reenactments of the 1775 trek from Tubac to San Francisco. Enjoy tool and craft demonstrations of the period; hands-on activities for children; stage presentations by Native-, Spanish-, Mexican- and Territorial-period cultures; a Saturday night barbecue; and dance rounds. ARTS & CRAFTS SHOW. Christ Church United Methodist. 655 N. Craycroft Road. 722-4235. Christ Church United Methodist presents its annual fine arts and crafts show and sale October 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and October 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is free.

ATTORNEY GENERAL NAPOLITANO. The Presidio Plaza Hotel. 181 W. Broadway Road. 628-6500. Attorney General Janet Napolitano hosts a luncheon celebrating the work of southern Arizona's corporations, individuals and organizations in promoting civic leadership and good will in the community. All Tucsonans are invited to attend. UA's Lute Olson is a guest speaker at the October 25, 11:30 a.m. event. Admission is $10 per person.

BIRD EXPO. Pima County Fairgrounds. 11300 S. Houghton Road. The Way Out West Bird Expo features more than 200 breeders, manufacturers and distributors selling exotic birds and supplies. The event, which partially benefits several rescue and rehabilitation nonprofit organizations including Liberty Wildlife and the Arizona Game and Fish Department's Adobe Mountain, takes place October 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for seniors and $3 for children 5-12.

CRAFT MARKET. Ronstadt Transit Center. The Tucson Arts District hosts the Third Saturday Craft Market, which features artisans selling hand-made wares from pottery to sculpture to special crafts, October 21 from 7 to 10 p.m. Food and beverages are available and there will be live entertainment from 7 to 9:30 p.m.

CONTRA AND SQUARE DANCE. Armory Park Senior Citizen Center. 220 S. Fifth Ave. The Tucson Friends of Traditional Music presents contra and square dancing with local callers and a live string band October 21 from 8 to 11 p.m. There's an introductory session at 7:45 p.m. Bring a friend or come alone and dance with different partners. Newcomers and people of all ages are welcome.

DECISION 2000. KVOA-TV. 209 W. Elm St. Channel 4 hosts a political open house at which Tucsonans can learn about the ballot propositions and question more than 50 candidates for offices ranging from school boards to US Congress. The free event, sponsored by KVOA, The Arizona Daily Star and the League of Women Voters, takes place from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 22.

DRACULA. Centennial Hall. University of Arizona. 621-3341. Composer Philip Glass and the Kronos Quartet perform Glass' new score for a screening of the 1931 film Dracula, starring Bela Lugosi. The one-night-only performance is October 20 at 8 p.m. Tickets range in price from $16 to $28 and are available at the box office or online at uapresents.arizona.edu.

DRUMMING. Unitarian Universalist Church. 4831 E. 22nd Street. Come one, come all, and bang some drums with your community October 20 at 7 p.m. Please bring drums, rattles and chairs. Admission is free. Call 790-4933 for more information.

FELLOWSHIP LUAU. Salvation Army Temple Corps. 1001 N. Richey Blvd. 795-4504. Proceeds from the October 22 Men's Fellowship Luau benefit local youth. The party begins at 12:30 p.m and is $6 for adults, $3 for children under 12, and free for children under 5.

FIESTA DE NUESTROS NIÑOS. St. Demetrious Greek Orthodox Church. 1145 E. Ft. Lowell Road. Join Tucson Community School for an annual fund raising auction. Item's include original artwork, pottery, gift certificates, books, toys, plants, tools and more. The silent auction begins at 5:30 p.m. and the live auction continues from 8:10 p.m. November 4. There is a $10 suggested donation. The deadline for reservations is October 27. Call 326-9212 for reservations and information.

HAUNTED RUINS. Valley of the Moon. 2544 E. Allen Road. 323-1331. The George Phar Legler Society presents haunted ruins tours October 19-22 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tours leave the gate every 30 minutes for this fun, barely scary show for children and adults. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 7-12, and kids under 7 are free (as are members). October 19 benefits the Community Food Bank and everyone will be admitted for $1 or two cans of food.

HEAVENLY MANUSCRIPTS. Steward Observatory, room N210. 1510 E. University Blvd. 621-6288. Continuing through November 17: Heavenly Manuscripts: The Renaissance of Astronomy features early astronomy manuscripts and texts from the library's special collections. Many of the rare books and manuscripts in the exhibit were published in the 16th and 17th centuries in Europe. Exhibition hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m Friday, and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.

IMPRINTING TOUR. Join Bob Dixon on a guided tour to four imprinting sites west of Tucson to see the results of 20 years of restoration work in the Sonoran Desert, October 28 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dixon will explain imprinting and its applications to permaculture and ecological regeneration. A gourmet native food lunch is included. The tour is $30, which covers lunch and a $25 tax-deductible donation to the Sonoran Permaculture Fund Scholarship Program. Learn innovative, inexpensive ways to teach fundamentals of mechanics, science, engineering and electronics with McGyver Kinetic Art for adults and teachers, October 22. MED WEEK 2000. Rodeway Inn Event Center. 1365 W. Grant Road. Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week kicks off with an awards luncheon October 19 from 12:30 to 2 p.m., which honors five local, minority-owned businesses. MYSTERIES IN HISTORY. Clues Unlimited. 123 S. Eastbourne Ave. After a wine and cheese reception at the bookstore, adjourn to the Plaza Hotel for dinner and a lecture by Garcia Agulera on art fraud and theft October 20 at 6 p.m. Agulera will talk about the Unicorn Tapestry, which she researched for her latest book, Havana Heat. The event, which costs $40 per person, benefits the UA Undergraduate Scholarship Fund. Call 621-3793 to register.

RUMMAGE SALE. Hi Corbett Field. The Junior League of Tucson presents its fall rummage sale October 21 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring thousands of gently used items including furniture, exercise equipment and electronics. Admission is $1 or one can of food for the food bank. There is a pre-sale party with a silent auction, fashion show and dinner October 20 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Admission is $5, or $20 with dinner.

STAIR CLIMB. Join in Bisbee's annual stair climb October 21 at 9 a.m. The mile-high, 10K race circles through the 125-year-old Bisbee historic district. In addition, there will be a Barco IceMan Competition--where an 8-pound block of ice, held in tongs, is carried up 153 stairs--swing dancing, a children's parade, choral groups, a poetry contest, art fair, food and wine tasting and a benefit brunch.
