BROWN BAG CONCERTS. Enjoy free lunchtime tunes courtesy of the Tucson Arts District from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, with the Blue Monks jazz trio at La Placita Village gazebo, 110 S. Church Ave. The Monks take over the Main Library plaza from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 4. The Evan Dain duo plays the library plaza, 101 N. Stone Ave., from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 11; and El Centro Cultural presents a guitar concert at The Brown House, 40 W. Congress St., at noon Wednesday, December 18. Saturday, November 30, is your last chance to dance with Major Knucklehead as Club Rhythm closes its reign at the Southwest Center with a blow-out dance jam that'll leave your bare feet humming. DECEMBER MAGIC. Soundings of the Planet. 3054 N. First Ave. 792-9888. Hungarian-born pianist and composer Tom Barabas performs an evening of heartwarming, contemporary instrumentals to kick-off the holiday season with a free concert from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, December 1, in the Soundings courtyard. Opening the show will be Dean Evenson on Native American and silver flutes, and local acoustic originals Milkseed. Foods, crafts and CDs will be available for purchase. Admission is free. PCC JAZZ. PCC Center for the Arts. 2202 W. Anklam Road. 884-6456. The PCC Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Mike Kuhn, performs at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 3. Program ranges from straight-ahead to ensemble works by Glen Miller, Stan Kenton, Thad Jones, Kubis, Nestico and others. UA WIND ENSEMBLE. UA Crowder Hall, south end of the pedestrian underpass on Speedway east of Park Avenue. The UA Wind Ensemble/Wind Symphony Concert features the premiere performance of the "Divertimonto for Trombone and Band," by Arthur Frackenpohl, at 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 3. Internationally acclaimed trombonist George Krem will be the soloist. Program also includes works by David Maslanka, John Adams and Carl Nielsen. ARIZONA REPERTORY SINGERS. Tucson Museum of Art. 140 N. Main Ave. 792-8141. ARS presents its first holiday concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, December 5, amidst the wonderful acoustics of the Museum. This light holiday program is presented in conjunction with the Thursday evening Art Walk. Suggested donation is $5 at the door. They'll also perform sacred a cappella works with a Christmas theme at 7:30 p.m. Friday, December 6, at Our Lady of the Valley, 505 N. La Cañada Drive. Suggested donation is $5 at the door. The Honors Center and the School of Music and Dance present the final brown-bag music event featuring student artists from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, December 6, in the house living room. Admission is free.

WINTER CELEBRATION IV. Berger Performing Arts Center. 1200 W. Speedway. 770-3690. William Eaton, Will Clipman and R. Carlos Nakai soothe the holiday pace with rich, relaxing sounds blending Nakai's celebrated cedar flute with various stringed and percussive instruments. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Saturday, December 7, and 3 p.m. Sunday, December 8. Tickets are $15, $12.50 for AHS members, with proceeds benefiting the Arizona Historical Society Education Department. This is sure to be a sold-out show, so purchase tickets early from the following outlets: the AHS Education Department, Mostly Books, The Haunted Bookshop and Jeff's Classical Records.
