SAMUEL WINCHESTER MOREY is one of the great curmudgeons of this valley. He's one of the few folks who appears at Pima County Board of Supervisors meetings to do his best to keep the bastards honest. Last week, during the call to the audience portion of the meeting, Morey was chewing up Supervisor Mikey Boyd's office (Morey lives in Boyd's district) for jacking him around.

Mikey was visibly ticked off and muttered a lot during Morey's remarks, but didn't interrupt. Later, in the elevator, Mikey got all over Board Chairman Paul Marsh for letting Morey continue. Boyd was steamed and cussing at Marsh for not coming to his rescue.

Mikey, if you believe a citizen has gone beyond civility or propriety concerning you and your office, it's your job to point that out to the chairman--otherwise, the audience gets to speak, and folks like Morey get to chew you up all they want. Hey, they picked you, you don't get to pick them. And Marsh should be commended (for once) for letting Morey speak his piece.
