ART FOR ALL. WomanKraft at the Castle. 388 S. Stone Ave. 629-9976. WomanKraft presents its Neighborhood Arts Empowerment Project, a series of workshops covering everything from creating art to marketing and developing a portfolio. All workshops are at the castle, and are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Saturday, August 31, Gayle Swanbeck and Caroline Latron teach you to recycle junk mail and turn it into cards and place mats in Remaking Paper Classes are $10, free to those who are homeless, carless, or who make less than $15,000 a year. ART VOLUNTEERS. The UA Museum of Art offers free training in art history, art education, criticism and the humanities to those interested in becoming docents. The museum's docent program involves weekly training sessions from 9 a.m. to noon every Monday, September 16 through May 12. CALL FOR ENTRIES. Applications are being accepted for the Phantom Gallery's upcoming exhibition season. Tucson-area visual artists working in diverse media are encouraged to apply. Phantom spaces currently include 38 E. Congress St., 221 N. Court Ave., 110 S. Church Ave., and 32 N. Stone Ave. Due to the large surface area directly exposed to sunlight, work selected for these sites must be "throw away" art. The size limitation is two dimensional works no larger than 3-by-4 feet. Galleries in the Tucson Convention Center may be available for large works suitable for hanging on a wall. Minimum size is 4-by-5 feet with larger works encouraged.
