ARIZONA FOLKLORE PRESERVE. 44 Ramsey Canyon Road, Hereford. 1-520-378-6165. Visit the Arizona Folklore Preserve, and enjoy music by "Arizona's Official Balladeer," Dolan Ellis, at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, August 30 and 31. In addition to performing, Ellis' photo exhibit Arizona Tall Tales, Lost Trails and Heros will be on display. Seating is very limited and reservations are required. FLUTE CLUB ENSEMBLE. Auditions for the Tucson Flute Club Chamber Ensemble are at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, September 3. Prepared solo, sight reading, and scales required. Call Sandy Schwoebel at 321-4943 for information.

CIVIC ORCHESTRA. The Civic Orchestra of Tucson needs string players: violins, violas, cellos, and especially basses. COT is a 60-piece volunteer symphony orchestra that provides free symphonic concerts to the community, with outreach programs for Tucson's youth. Come to a rehearsal and get acquainted. Rehearsals are from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Tuesday evenings at the Tucson Jewish Community Center. Call Dr. Herschel Kreloff at 325-3002 for information.

FOOTHILLS WOMEN'S CHORUS. The Foothills Women's Chorus seeks new members for its upcoming 1997-'98 season. Auditions are not required, just a love of singing. Rehearsals are fun and relaxed, with an emphasis on musical quality. Performances include December holiday and Spring programs for various organizations and retirement communities. The group meets from 7 to 9 p.m. beginning September 8, at the Dove of Peace Lutheran Church, 665 W. Roller Coaster Road. Call 888-1737 or 299-1499 for information.

MUSICIANS' NETWORK. Be a part of the Tucson Musicians' Network, a local group dedicated to promoting the Tucson music scene. They are compiling a quarterly directory with names and contact information, with Internet presence and a monthly concert series in the works. Deadline for the fall directory is Monday, September 15.
