CREATING CUISINE. 4108 E. North St. Do you have family recipes you'd like to share? The Tucson International Alliance of Refugee Communities sponsors a class for creating an International Cookbook from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, beginning August 30. The cookbook will include information about the author of each recipe, and about the traditional occasions on which each dish is served. Adults from outside the U.S. are especially welcome. It's the Tucson Jazz Society's annual Latin jazz dance, salsa tasting and cook-off, from 8 p.m. to midnight Sunday, August 31. Shake your stuff or sit back and enjoy music by The Tucson Latin Jazz Orchestra and Descarga. Event attendees are encouraged to sample all the contending salsas. Admission is $10, $5 for TJS members. Fourth Ave. Watch your fellow Tucsonans perform amazing feats of performance power at the Rendez-Vouz On The Avenue Talent Contest, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, August 30. Amateur performers are invited to get their acts together and perform dance, comedy, music, performance art, etc., while helping to raise money for United Cerebral Palsy of Southern Arizona. SUMMER SUN DRIVE. The Tucson Planning Council for the Homeless needs your donations of unused or new water bottles, sunscreen, summer hats and sunglasses to help Tucsonans on the street fight the summer heat. WOMEN'S WELLNESS CAMP. The YMCA of Tucson invite women to unwind and re-charge at its annual Women's Wellness Camp, October 16 through 19. This weekend getaway at the Triangle Y Ranch Camp near Oracle, Arizona, offers women an opportunity to get away from the frantic pace of every day and enjoy swimming, horseback riding, massage, aqua fitness, stress management seminars, facials, journal writing, mountain biking, hiking; as few or as many activities as they wish.
