SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK: Join Orsino, Viola (one of the Bard's more appealing heroines) and Sir Toby Belch in Twelfth Night, a delightful comedy that involves a renaissance festival of characters running around the woods in playful deceit. The Tucson Parks and Recreation Community Theatre performs for free at 8 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, June 27 through 30, at the Reid Park DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center. SIMON SIGNS: Prolific sci-fi and fantasy writer Simon Hawke descends from his Kitt Peak kingdom to sign copies of War, a good old-fashioned chaos-in-the-realm, good v. evil, adult fantasy ravaged by war. Hawke will don chain mail and armor alongside fellow Empire of Chivalry members, who will demonstrate various types of sword fighting. CLUB RHYTHM RETURNS: The Baked Pueblo's preeminent family friendly, smoke-free music and dance event is back, with more rhythm and blues, rock, funk and world music. Get tribal and dance till the rains come starting at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at the Southwest Center For Music, 2175 N. Sixth Ave. Admission is $5, $4 for KXCI members and $2 for kids 12 and under. FLIGHT OF FANCY: Pima Air Museum, 6000 E. Valencia Road, celebrates the 100th birthday of Naval aviator and pioneer Buck Rowe, a WWI fighter pilot who later became one of the first federal aeronautics inspectors in the U.S., with festivities at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 29. Event is free with regular museum admission, which includes a bird's eye view of more than 185 military, commercial and civilian aircraft, documentary photos, vintage uniforms and aerospace memorabilia. Regular museum hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with last admittance at 4 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and military, and $3 for children ages 10 to 17. UP A CREEK. Join the Desert Paddling Association for an all-hands-on-deck canoe and kayak demonstration from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, June 30, at a local watering hole.
