Cheap Thrills INTERNAL LANDSCAPES: Hailed as one of the great writers of his generation, poet Rick Bass' broad tableau is the land and how it affects its inhabitants. Now he brings his distinctive voice to Tucson in a reading hosted by the UA Poetry Center.

The author of 11 books of fiction and non-fiction, including Winter, Oil Notes, Platte River and The Lost Grizzlies, Bass' most recent publication is The Sky, The Stars, The Wilderness, described by Publisher's Weekly as "stories that can only increase Bass' reputation as a writer remarkably able to put people in nature in a way that enhances our understanding of both."

The free reading begins at 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, in the UA Modern Languages Building auditorium, located on campus on the north side of the main mall. Call 321-7760 for details.
