SONOITA VALLEY PUBLIC LANDS. The Sonoita Valley Planning Partnership meets from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, February 10, at the Sonoita-Elgin Emergency Services Building in Sonoita. Public input on planning the future of public lands in the Sonoita Valley is welcomed, with participating agencies including the Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service, State Land Department and Game and Fish. DISAPPEARING FROGS. Dr. Cecil Schwable, Research Ecologist for the National Biological Survey, gives a slide presentation entitled Disappearing Frogs--What's Happening? at the Sky-Island Alliance meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, February 8, at the Water Resources Research Center, 350 N. TURTLE MOUNTAIN. Turtle Mountain Company live animal programs are an exciting way to learn about our fellow creatures. The programs teach about animals' life histories and how we can co-exist with them. Desert Animals focuses on native animals of Arizona. SOLAR ENERGY WORKSHOPS. Solar Energy International offers a series of Tucson workshops in February and March. Workshops are for owner-builders, solar career seekers, industry technicians, those working in lesser developed nations, and all other interested people. DEQ HOTLINES. The Pima County Department of Environmental Quality wants you to call 622-5700 to report cars or buses spewing disgusting, health-destroying smoke. If you spot any of those wildcat dump hogs call 622-5800 with the location, license plate number and type of trash being dumped. Businesses needing hazardous waste assistance can call the Hazmat Education Helpline at 740-3346.

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE. The Tucson/Pima County hazardous waste disposal site at 2440 W. Sweetwater Drive is open from 8 a.m. to noon every Friday and Saturday for household waste disposal. For more information call 740-3340.

RECYCLING CENTERS. The following neighborhood drop-off centers are open 24 hours daily: Cholla High School, 2001 W. 22nd St.; Booth-Fickett Magnet School, 7240 E. Calle Arturo; and Morrow Education Center, 1010 E. 10th St. All city and county landfills also have recycling centers. Call 791-5000 for hours and locations. Multi-material recycling facilities are located at Recycle America, 945 S. Freeway Blvd. Call 622-4731 for hours.
