Your TAMMIES Finalists

Hey, lovers of local music. The moment you've all been waiting for is here: It's time to announce the Tucson Area Music Awards 2008 finalists! You can find the list on our TAMMIES sample ballot (Page 46 of the print edition). Congratulations to all of the finalists; you're among an incredibly impressive group of musicians.

To vote for the 2008 TAMMIES winners, head over to our fabulous local-music Web site, where you can find the online ballot. Happy voting!

The winners will be announced on Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the TAMMIES concert and awards ceremony. The scheduled performers include Jo Wilkinson, the legendary Sand Rubies and 2008 TAMMIES finalists Golden Boots, Tom Walbank, Michael P. Nordberg and the Crystal Ridge Bluegrass Band. Also to be featured: Taste of the TAMMIES, with delicious eats from some of Tucson's top restaurants. And best of all, the whole shebang--the food (while it lasts) and the music--is completely free.

Mark your calendar, and don't miss it!

· In other news, if you haven't checked out our all-new election Web site, you're missing out. Last week, Jim Nintzel broke the news there about a child-support lawsuit that had been filed by the state Attorney General's Office against Legislative District 29 House candidate Ephraim Cruz. (You can find that story, now fleshed out and elaborated upon, in this issue.) Scramblewatch.com is chock-full of information, humor and all sorts of exclusive content. Check it out!
