Here was NV Sen. Cathy Cortez Masto on Twitter yesterday: "Theres no room for hate or discrimination in the White House. I will be an outspoken voice against that every time." Would be so easy for Rep. McSally to do something similar. The fact that she refuses is very telling.
She didn't have to walk the plank on this. Other GOP Reps have been willing to stand up to Trump and Ryan to protect their constituents. Here's Rep. LoBiondi of NJ: "Simply put, this bill does not meet the standards of what was promised; it is not as good as or better than what we currently have. Accordingly, I will vote no on this healthcare plan."
McSally has said repeatedly she would want any new health care bill to have the "same outcome" as the ACA; it doesn't do that. She says she wants veterans to have the care they deserve; this bill would throw hundreds of thousands of vets off their coverage (cutting off their access to crucial mental health care). It should be OBVIOUS to her that she can't support this bill, based on her stated principles. So why is she dithering?
Thank you Jim Nintzel for making us aware of McSally's shameful silence on this. CD2 is not a homogenous district, and that's the beauty of it. If McSally doesn't appreciate that, and won't defend it, then she and CD2 are a total mismatch.
Rep. McSally has said repeatedly, including at her town hall in Sahuarita, that the Republican health care plan would give us the "same outcome" as the ACA, but just get there in a different way. We now know, based on the CBO analysis, that this bill would not give us anywhere near the same outcome; instead it would result in 24 million (or more) losing their insurance coverage. Knowing that, why does McSally say she needs to pore over every line in the bill? It doesn't come close to doing what she said it would. She can't vote for it without going back on her word.
Democrats are not the "fringe" in McSally's district. Clinton won here by 5%. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2017/2/6/1629509/-These-23-Republicans-hold-congressional-districts-that-voted-for-Hillary-Clinton
