Opening with a loud, heavy guitar riff and pounding double bass, "Terminal Show" kicks off the record in true Motorhead fashion, Lemmy Kilmister's basslines sounding like an earthquake off the Richter scale. The track also features blazing guitar work from legend Steve Vai, whose other guest appearance here is on the rockin' "Down on Me."
"Killers," another trademark Motorhead tune, sounds like a heavy-metal and punk fusion. Some of the lyrical content in "Killers" makes it appear to be the new Motorhead war cry: "We are killers and the killers will destroy your life," Lemmy grunts in the song's chorus.
"Suicide" initially sounds like an updated, pissed-off AC/DC, but then suddenly the song twists the chorus and climax into a swaggering, distorted nightmare.
If Guns N' Roses were around today and had a set of balls, the result would be the song "Life's a Bitch." Opening with a bluesy intro, the track turns into a hard, mid-tempo (in Motorhead terms) beast.
Keeping listeners on their toes is "Whorehouse Blues," an actual blues cut, complete with acoustic guitar and harmonica. "We gonna hit you like a flash of lightning, just like a bad boy would," Lemmy announces before the slide-guitar solo.
Although some Motorhead albums in the past tend to be monotonous, Inferno is some of their best work in more than a decade.
