Macha

Led by brothers Joshua and Mischo McKay, Macha's Forget Tomorrow sounds very cool. Four years in the making, the new album adds synth-pop and funk elements that heighten rather than diminish Macha's trademark Indonesian drone-rock. The dulcimer, vibraphone, gongs and "fun machine" are still in effect, but the bass and drums have loosened up significantly.

This is no dance party, though. The album's ominous manga cover--a pretty little girl receiving an injection--suits the music. Gorgeous, futuristic songs, but each harbors a needle, and who knows if it contains poison or antidote?
