A belligerent alleged tagger was arrested after unintentionally providing law enforcement with evidence against him, according to a Pima County Sheriff's Department report.
A security guard at the Foothills Mall, 7401 N. La Cholla Blvd., reported seeing a 20-something Hispanic male in a puffy jacket writing graffiti with a permanent marker on a stop sign near the World Sports Grille. After finishing his handiwork, the subject reportedly photographed it with his cell phone.
Two deputies encountered a young man matching the description in the bar of another restaurant. Finding two permanent markers in his possession--as well as the cell phone with which he had photographed his own misdeed--the deputies handcuffed him, despite his protests. Eventually, he admitted to the tagging, saying, "Give me the ticket, and let me keep drinking." He was taken to the patrol vehicle, where a records check revealed he had an outstanding warrant for graffiti.
En route to jail, the subject dubbed the situation "fucking bullshit" and said, "Our system is fucking jacked." He swore that once his handcuffs were removed, he would "fucking punch somebody," because he believed he was going to prison for at least two years and was going to "at least make it worth it."
Kitchen Switchin'
North Thyme Place, Dec. 22, 2:36 p.m.
A burglar apparently downgraded the kitchen appliances at a northwest-side home, a PCSD report stated.
The victim reported that she had not been at her home for a while, because she was trying to sell it. The last time she had been in the house's kitchen, it boasted a brand-new GE stainless-steel dishwasher and a brand-new stove. Now, she said, the appliances in her kitchen had been replaced with below-par, older-model Maytags.
Sheriff's deputies found no evidence of forced entry. One neighbor said she had once seen a light on in the residence and a large box in the carport.
Fruitless Revenge
North Crestone Drive, Dec. 22, 5:08 p.m.
A bitter man may have taken an interesting form of revenge on his wife's long-ago lover, a PCSD report said.
The reportee stated that the day before, his home security camera had captured the image of an individual in a black hood sawing down a 10-year-old plum tree worth about $100. The footage then showed the subject entering a black sedan, which drove away from the residence at a high rate of speed.
The reportee believed that the tree thief was the husband of a woman he had slept with 20 years before. For the last five years, he said, he had received threats from that individual and had been the victim of odd instances of vandalism.
