Police Dispatch

Fully Charged

West Irvington Road and Highway 86, Aug. 15, 5:36 p.m.

Harsh words and unruly behavior on the part of a teenager prompted his grandfather to use an electric cattle prod to restore order, a Pima County Sheriff's Department report said.

The 16-year-old and his 9-year-old brother were fighting over a video game console, causing their grandmother, who had custody of the children, to intervene.

The woman said she told the teen to "knock it off." The boy replied with a torrent of obscenities, he later admitted to deputies.

Both grandparents said the teen assumed an aggressive stance toward his grandmother, a charge the boy denied. That's when the grandfather pulled the cattle prod from his back pocket and zapped him twice, they claimed.

Deputies determined that the use of the cattle prod was "a non-issue" since the boy appeared to have been ready to hit his grandmother. The teen was arrested on a charge of domestic violence/disorderly conduct and transported to Pima County Juvenile Court Center.

House of Horror

East Sahuarita and South Wentworth Roads, Aug. 13, 7:01 p.m.

A couple invited to a neighbor's home for dinner was shocked when their hostess unexpectedly started wrecking her house, a PCSD report said.

The woman was drinking vodka and beer before she "flipped out and started drawing on the walls," a male guest said in the report.

Witnesses said she threw furniture into the yard, including a coffee table, a bed frame and chairs. The woman also lobbed a can of paint at the front door, and then tracked it all over the living room, they added.

The woman was booked at the Pima County Adult Detention Center on a charge of domestic violence/disorderly conduct.

Crosswalk Assault

East Speedway Boulevard and North Park Avenue, Aug. 21, 7:40 p.m.

A man waiting to cross the street at an intersection was stabbed with a big stick, according to a University of Arizona Police Department report.

A male reportedly approached the man and drew his hand up as if to strike him. The foot-long stick skewered the victim's right palm as he reached up to defend himself against the blow.

The assailant, who said nothing, ran off after the reportedly unprovoked attack.

Emergency technicians transported the man to Tucson Medical Center for treatment. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
