I've Fallen and I Can't Get Up

West Valencia Road and South Mission Road, July 18, 12:14 p.m.

Deputies responding to a call at an assisted-living home found an elderly woman, who staffers said became belligerent, laying on the floor with her legs wrapped in a bed sheet, according to a report from the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

A female employee at the Praying Hands Residential Care Home, 2552 W. Solano Circle, reportedly said the elderly woman went outside for a smoke with a drink in her hand. When the woman returned, the employee said, she "lost her mind" and threw the glass at someone's head.

The employee alleged that the woman intentionally stepped on the broken glass, slicing open her foot. Furthermore, the employee reportedly said, the woman had to be tied up to prevent her from kicking people and cutting herself up more.

The female employee told authorities she didn't want to press charges because she felt the woman suffers from dementia.

Cruisin' for a Bruisin'

Interstate 10 and North Wentworth Road, July 16, 1:01 a.m.

A PCSD report said that a Southside resident called deputies after witnessing a man recklessly driving a dump truck through his neighborhood.

The man who called authorities showed a deputy tire marks and reportedly described how the truck was cruising at about 50 miles per hour, hitting things.

Next, the man showed a deputy a "dense desert area" where, he alleged, the truck's driver made a U-turn, rampaging through barrel and prickly pear cacti. A deputy noted that a vehicle appeared to have driven about 100 yards off the road. The man said he believed the truck drove off to the east after the incident.

The deputy attempted to locate the vehicle, but failed. As he was about to leave the area, PCSD communications diverted him to an assault that appeared to be related to the truck incident.

A 43-year-old woman and her 18-year-old daughter reportedly met the deputy at the gate in front of her trailer. The mother said a large vehicle at the front of her property awakened her, according to the record. Someone reportedly knocked on her door, and her husband went to answer it.

The mother alleged that a man, whom she recognized as someone who sold a vehicle to her more than a year ago, burst inside demanding to know where a female acquaintance was. The family recognized the name of the female, but didn't know anything about her beyond that, the mother reportedly said.

The record said the family repeatedly told the man that the acquaintance was not there, at which point he allegedly grabbed the daughter's arm and started calling her by the female acquaintance's name.

Eventually, the report said, he realized the daughter was not the woman he was looking for. Next, the man allegedly grabbed the mother by both arms and told her she was going to come with him to look for the female. The mother told him no and that he would have to come back at another time, the record stated.

The man was acting strangely and making threats, the report said, prompting the mother to think he was intoxicated or on drugs. She said she asked him to leave, which he did. She alleged that the last she saw of him, he was driving over fences as he sped away.

The deputy took photographs of the damage to the desert area, as well as the fences. Property owners were informed of the situation.
