Off-Center Growling

Here are answers to real-life questions that some readers have had lately:

• Over the last several months, the paper has often been folded off-center. What's that all about? Whenever we have an insert of any sort (and we've had a fair number of advertising inserts lately), our printer needs one side of the paper to be slightly longer than the other, so the insertion machine has something to grab. I know this "lip" is driving some of you crazy, and for that, I apologize. However, we need the dough from those advertising inserts ... so we're going to need to live with it.

• Now that the Arizona Daily Star has dropped its weekly TV-listings insert, why doesn't the Weekly start running TV listings? We'd need to print a lot of extra pages—at least 8 per week, probably more—to present TV listings somewhere close to legibly, and that would cost us a whole heck of a lot of money. We'd rather use our resources to give our readers local news, commentary and arts coverage—stuff that can't be found anywhere else—than TV listings, which can be found elsewhere.

• That growling ad on TucsonWeekly.com drove me nuts. Is that gone for good? Yes, that ad is officially extinct, and our ad staff assures me that they are going to try to avoid growling ads in the future.

• When does Best of Tucson® voting begin? It starts on Wednesday, April 7. Mark your calendars if you're so inclined.
