Day of Dad

Father's Day is Sunday, June 15, and while the day celebrating dads isn't generally quite the spectacular Mother's Day is, there are some options at local restaurants, most featuring combinations of meat and booze.

• Noble Hops, 1335 W. Lambert Lane: Special pulled pork sandwich with slaw, corn on the cob and homemade chips for $14. • Lodge on the Desert, 306 N. Alvernon Way: Father's Day "Gentlemen's Special" Bison Osso Bucco with extended Happy Hour price on local draft beer and a sampler menu including Lobster Flautas, Roasted Duck Tacos, Shrimp Quesadilla and Short Rib Nachos.  • Agustin Kitchen, 100 S. Avenida del Convento: Special Father's Day Menu with a featured dish: Smoked Ribs with "Bad-Ass" BBQ Sauce, a cold beer and a shot of whiskey for $25. • Acacia, 3001 E. Skyline Drive: Father's Day Dinner - featuring a T-bone Steak with super stuffed potato and a warm dark chocolate brownie a la mode for dessert for $35.

Forgot Dad? Acacia's got you

If you didn't/don't get a chance to brew and dine dad on Father's Day, Acacia is hosting its Grub, Suds & Schwag beer dinner a couple days later on June 19. The dinner is a four-course feast, featuring bistro style mussels and a trio of sliders, with each course paired with a Dragoon brew highlighting the food. Cost is $45 per person including the drinks. For more information, visit acaciatucson.com.

Sugar Daddy

Wildflower Restaurant (7037 N. Oracle Road) is presenting a series of decadent dessert classes throughout the summer. They are offering three exclusive dessert demonstration classes giving guests the opportunity to sweeten it up with pastry chef Karen "Spike" Ames. The classes are June 22, July 13 and Aug. 27. Cost is $30 per person, with each guest receiving a chilled glass of Prosecco, tastings from Wildflower's cheese boards, and a sampling of the dessert Spike creates in each class.

Riding Sidecar

Ari Shapiro of Falora, Sparkroot and Xoom Juice fame, opened up Sidecar, his take on a neighborhood craft-cocktail bar about a month ago. Sidecar is located at 139 S. Eastbourne in the Broadway Village shopping center, right alongside Shapiro's Falora and Session Yoga. If you have not had a chance to check it out, you really have to experience the melding of a classic bar with the freshness and dynamism of a forward-leaning lounge. They pride themselves on their strong focus on spirits, scratch-made mixers, a tight wine list, and local beers on tap and in bottle. They have really created a neat atmosphere with a throw back to what bars should be. Even better, for eastsiders and such, it's not downtown. For more information, stop in for a drink or visit barsidecar.com.
