Street Food!

The Fiesta Grande Street Fair is a must-attend affair for anyone with an appreciation of authentic street food. Pat's Drive-In and other area eateries will certainly be open, but the real food gems will come from the vendors selling inexpensive, homemade food to raise money for their respective causes. Festival founder Margaret McKenna said offerings will include Sonoran hot dogs, deep-fried tacos, birria, aguas frescas, kettle corn, doughnuts, burritos and many other items. The festival—which includes car shows, rides, live music and other entertainment—takes place on Grande Avenue between St. Mary's Road and Speedway Boulevard from 9:30 a.m. to dusk on Saturday, April 10; and noon to dusk on Sunday, April 11.

Slogan Contest

The Cereal Boxx (943 E. University Blvd., Suite 101) is holding a contest to find a slogan for the eatery's line of T-shirts, says owner Terra Schacht. Anyone interested in entering needs to become a fan of the restaurant on Facebook and post their submission on Facebook by Thursday, April 15. Entries must pertain to the restaurant and cannot include foul language. The winner gets free breakfast once a week for a year. Call 622-2699, or visit www.thecerealboxx.com for more information.

Zin, Blues and BBQ

More than 45 different zinfandels will be featured at the Zin, Blues and BBQ event from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday, April 11, at Hacienda del Sol (5601 N. Hacienda Del Sol Road). Chef Ramiro Scavo said he and his staff are preparing four 50-pound pigs, wild-boar ribs, sausages, macaroni and cheese, cowboy beans, catfish, jalapeño cornbread, biscuits, banana pudding, cobblers and pies. Live music by Grams and Krieger will also be featured. $55; call 529-3500 for more information.
