Great American Dine Out

The Share Our Strength (SOS) Great American Dine Out is held Sept. 21-28. One in six children in the United States suffers from uncertain access to the healthy, nutritious foods they need to avoid the lifelong and devastating consequences of hunger. Restaurants throughout the country are joining forces with SOS to help wipe out childhood hunger. Restaurants can participate by donating a percentage of sales during the week, promoting new menu items and/or collecting donations from guests and employees. Participating restaurants in Tucson include Janos, all four Risky Business locations, Claim Jumper, Coyote Café in the Hotel Arizona, Casa del Rio Mexican Restaurant, Joe's Crab Shack and Create Café and Catering. For more information, visit strength.org.

Tribute Tea

The Mayor of Changxing, in Eastern China, asked Seven Cups of Tucson and its founder, Austin Hodge, to help the Chinese make the most of their newly constructed monument to tea--the Lu Yu tea museum. Seven Cups signed a five-year contract with the Chinese government to supply the museum with tribute tea, the highest grade of hand-crafted Chinese tea available. Tribute tea was traditionally served to the emperor and high government officials. Seven Cups will draw on its network of tea masters inside China to supply the museum with teas from across the country. The company will also consult with the government to ensure that the tea and the museum's amenities meet the standards of international tea connoisseurs and tourists. Seven Cups is the only foreign company invited to work with the government on this project. Seven Cups also opened its first franchise in Denver in June. You can enjoy Seven Cups locally at 2516 E. Sixth St.; 881-4072.
