Downtown Progressive Dinner

The Tucson Downtown Alliance will host the return of the Downtown Progressive Dinner on Tuesday, Oct. 24. Enjoy one night of cocktails, dinner and dessert at three different downtown restaurants. This month's dinner features a cocktail and appetizer at Central Bistro, an Italian dinner at Enoteca Pizzeria and Wine Bar, and a Spanish dessert with coffee or tea at Casa Vicente. Diners have a choice of food and drink items at each restaurant, and transportation will be provided between venues. The cost is $50 per person, which includes tax and gratuities. Participants will automatically be entered into a drawing to win two tickets to a theater or symphony performance. The evening begins at 6 p.m. and ends around 9:30 p.m. Reserve your space by calling 547-3342. Reservations must be made by noon on Monday, Oct. 23. Visit the Web site to view the menu: www.downtowntucson.org/progressive_dinner.

A Nickel for Your Thoughts

Congratulations to Xoom Juice, which on Sunday, Oct. 22, will celebrate five years of serving Tucson. To commemorate the occasion, Xoom is rolling back the price of one of its most popular drinks. A 16-ounce smashing strawberries smoothie will cost only 5 cents! Show up at the Xoom, 3055 N. Campbell Ave., between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and say, "Happy birthday!" The offer is only good for this location, and one per customer please; 318-XOOM.

Good Home Cooking, Italian Style

On Saturday, Nov. 4, Roma Imports will host a buffet dinner featuring Italian home-cooked foods like mother never made. Some of the dishes include zucchini stuffed with Italian sausage; potato cake with smoked mozzarella and rosemary ham; beef braised in wine; prosciutto and asparagus lasagna rolls; roasted rosemary potatoes with green beans; tiramisu; and sfogliatelle, which is an Italian pastry that has regained popularity after its many mentions on The Sopranos. For the complete mouth-watering menu, check out www.romaimports.com/feast.html. The cost is $29.50 per person; registration is required by calling 792-3173.
