Taste of Generosity
On Wednesday, April 27, get a taste of your own generosity when you join with Chipotle's effort to raise money for the new Teen Zone in the Oro Valley Public Library. Chipotle Mexican Grill in the Foothills Mall (7555 N. La Cholla Blvd., No. 155) will donate 50 percent of the proceeds from 5 to 9 p.m. The Teen Zone will be a place created for teens by teens where they can study, work on projects or just hang out.
Shots for All
If Gov. Janet Napolitano doesn't veto SB 1363, shots won't only come in glasses. It will be legal for every gun-toting redneck to carry firearms into any establishment where spirits are served, if the establishment doesn't have a sign posted prohibiting firearms. That creates a mighty big liability for the hospitality industry and a possible scary scenario for the rest of us. Give Napolitano your opinion ASAP at http://www.governor.state.az.us/post/feedback.asp.
Sultan's Palace
Almost three months old, the Sultan's Palace is possibly Tucson's first and only Afghani restaurant, located in a former Coco's on that odd curve where Main Street meets Drachman Street. For the young and limber, there's floor seating with low tables and big swaths of diaphanous material overhead. For the rest of us, booths are welcome. The menu features grilled kebabs, Afghani bread with chutney, rice, sour cream sauces and exotic herbs and spices; 345 W. Drachman; 622-2892.
