Tucson-based Mr. Beer, a brew-at-home microbrewery company, recently put a feather in its marketing cap by being included in the lavish gift baskets given to presenters and performers of the 31st Annual American Music Awards that aired on Nov. 16. No, this is not the weird news. And it didn't happen in Tucson, or we'd be having a heyday. The case is scheduled to go to trial Jan. 12, 2004, in Southern California's Orange County. Local viewers with a talent for wielding a chef's knife and spinning a story will appear on the new program KUAT Cooks: Comfort Food
, airing Saturday, Nov. 29, from noon to 3 p.m. The station asked for recipes, and viewers came through with a heaping helping of heartwarming anecdotes and soul-warming recipes. Chef Janos Wilder and KUAT's Ted Robbins will return as co-hosts, and Culinary Concepts cooking school will assist with recipe selection, food preparation and cleanup.
