Noshing Around

Newly Remodeled

Maloney's Tavern is putting on a new face to attract an older, more professional happy-hour crowd while retaining its appeal to college students. Changes include VIP parties, pool tables, large black-and-white photos of yesteryear's heroes and two-for-one drink specials on Wednesday. The grand opening is on Aug. 28 at 8 p.m; 21 and over, please. Located at 213 N. Fourth Avenue. 388-9355.

Reader Comment About the Phoenician

Noshing Around recently bemoaned the obstacle of finding the entrance to the Phoenician. I stand corrected by a reader: "In fact, the second floor is indeed a ground floor if you drive very slightly east of River Center (River and Craycroft roads), turn left and drive up the hill between the vet office and assisted living center. There is ample parking, no stairs, no elevator and easy access." Phoenician is open Tuesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner, serving Mediterranean cuisine and specializing in Lebanese meza (hot and cold appetizers). 577-1477.

No Relationship to Robert Blake

Recently opened Vitello's confirms that they are not related to the Vitello's where Robert Blake and his wife Bonnie ate prior to her murder and the resulting judicial media circus. Located in Catalina, Vitello's serves pizza and Italian specialties daily for lunch and dinner. 15930 N. Oracle Road No. 178. 825-0140.

Low Carb Mall

The amazing popularity of the Atkins diet has spawned a Arizona-owned company selling low carbohydrate products. Stop by the store at 4490 N. First Ave, 292-1555, or kiosks at the Tucson and Park Place malls.

Coming Soon

Pei Wei Asian Diner, P.F. Chang's quick service spin-off, is coming to 5285 E. Broadway Blvd. across from Williams Centre.
