Noshing Around

Dragoon's new collaboration, Ten Fifty-Five expands, and more!

Dragoon Brewing Is Getting Out There

New Belgium Brewing is teaming up with the local folks at Dragoon. From the New Belgium Facebook Page: "We are excited to announce that we have teamed up with Tucson's own Dragoon Brewing Co. to brew a small batch limited release collaboration beer! Join us as we brew at Dragoon Aug 2nd for a release at the Tucson Beer Festival Sept 28th. Of course there will be preview parties at couple of your favorite craft beer bars. A bit of old school ...a bit of new!"

Also, the Brewery is teaming up with Lowes Ventana Canyon and their Executive Chef Ken Harvey for another Beer Garden Dinner on Friday, Aug. 16. Call the Canyon Cafe for more info at 615-5496.

Ever-Expanding Beer

Ten Fifty-Five Brewing Co. has only been open a measly five months yet already has plans to expand its (rather small) taproom. Located at 3810 E. 44th St., the guys have leased the space next door to expand to accommodate the unexpected foot traffic. Once they've finished expanding (which should happen by September), the new taproom will be almost four times the size it is now. The current taproom is still open 2 to 7 p.m. on Saturdays.

New and Returning

La Mia Toscana Italian Kitchen, an upscale Tuscan-style Italian restaurant located at 7332 N. Oracle Road, opened on Wednesday, July 24. Call 742-4242.

As you probably know if you've driven by, the Ha Long Bay Vietnamese restaurant formerly at Broadway and Kolb was forced out of its home at the El Mercado shopping center to make way for a CVS a few months ago. Luckily for us, it is settling into its new home at 7245 E. Tanque Verde Road. The menu is the same and owner Trieu Nguyen said he spent the last few months renovating the space.

Vacation's Over

I mentioned back when "summer" began to keep an eye out for our favorite local restaurants taking time off and closing for some "down time". Now I am getting word that things are flipped, such as: Caffe Milano at 46 W. Congress St. is refreshed after a leave of absence and is ready to caffeinate you up. For hours go to www.caffemilano.com. Also, The Dish, at 3131 E. First St., is back open, as well as the great wine selection of the connected Rum Runner.
