CeeDee on TV

An upcoming episode of the Food Network show Meat and Potatoes will feature a stop at Tucson's very own CeeDee Jamaican Kitchen (1070 N. Swan Road). The show's host, Rahm Fama, came to town several months ago to try the restaurant's oxtail stew—which is out of this world. The show featuring CeeDee is slated to air on Monday, May 16. Fama also made a stop at Lindy's on Fourth while he was here for an episode that aired in April.

Brushfire 2.0

The owners of Brushfire BBQ, at 2745 N. Campbell Ave., are opening a second location in an old Blockbuster building at the Fry's shopping center at 22nd Street and Kolb Road. "We're pretty excited. We're going to have stuff we don't have here, like parking," quipped Ben Rine, who opened the original location in 2007. The new location will seat about 100 people in the main dining room and will have room for an additional 100 people in a private room. The new location will also have a full bar, and Rine says he's working on getting a liquor license for the original location, too. The new Brushfire is expected to open this fall.

Tuscan in Tucson

A new Italian eatery called Brio Tuscan Grille is set to open this summer at the Tucson Mall. After a look at the chain restaurant's website, www.brioitalian.com, it appears that this will be far from a run-of-the-mill food-court operation. The regular menu shows a nice selection of steak, shrimp, pasta and salads in the $5 to $25 range, and there's a special $2.95 bar menu available on weekdays.

Tucson Culinary Festival Details

Details about this year's Tucson Culinary Festival have begun to emerge, and we're getting excited. In addition to the margarita competition and swank dinners typically included in the weekend of events in October, this year's festival will feature culinary tours called "Dine Around Tucson," where guests will be able to explore a variety of restaurants in four of the city's distinct dining districts.
