New: CataVinos
Owned and operated by Yvonne K. Foucher, an architect becoming a sommelier, CataVinos is a full-service wine shop with more than 150 wines less than $15. Every week, CataVinos will showcase flights of six different wines from all over the world, along with cheese and crackers. The cost is $10, or $8 with a wine purchase. A free grand-opening wine-tasting event happens Saturday, Sept. 8, from 4 to 8 p.m., when 10 distributors will pour more than 30 wines at 3063 N. Alvernon Way; 323-3063. Tapas Thursdays

Coming Soon: Baloo
Speaking of Acacia, owner/executive chef Albert Hall is not revealing too much, but perhaps as soon as October, he will open yet another restaurant in St. Philip's Plaza called Baloo, serving Latin-fusion cuisine. You can preview the Web site at balootucson.com. There must be a trend in competing with one's self at the same venue, as Sam Fox does with NoRTH and Blanco at La Encantada.
Football Fury at Old Chicago
Old Chicago is offering football fans a frequency incentive program while offering a special football menu, 110 beers and 15 to 20 TVs per location. The frequency card has built-in rewards based on the number of Sunday visits. Prizes include an appetizer, a build-your-own calzone, medium and large pizzas and more at 2960 N. Starting Sept. 9, Club Congress (311 E. Congress St.) begins its weekly S.I.N. (service industry night). Every Sunday from 7 p.m. to closing, any drink--martini, draft, Long Island iced tea or whatever--is yours for only $3.
