Dine Out for Safety

On Wednesday, April 20, more than 35 of Tucson's independent restaurants will donate 20 percent of their proceeds to the nonprofit Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault. The event began in 1997 and raised $12,000. Last year, it raised more than $126,000. SACASA works to reduce the trauma and incidence of sexual violence by providing treatment and promoting the prevention of sexual abuse, incest, molestation and rape. Café Poca Cosa

Noshing reader Marie asked if the Rio Nuevo Project is forcing Café Poca Cosa out of downtown. According to Karen Thoreson, assistant city manager, the Clarion Hotel is up for purchase. If that happens, Poca Cosa would be able to stay, but construction would disrupt business. The city is actively looking for another downtown location that celebrates CPC's style. Pastiche Pops

Salami on Rye

Savor Jewish food from around the world on Sunday, April 17 at the seventh annual Jewish Festival, celebrated at the Tucson Jewish Center, located at the corner of River Road and Dodge Boulevard from 2 to 6 p.m. Four celebrity chefs will demonstrate the art of Jewish cooking--the brothers Doug Levy (Feast) and Mitch Levy (Cuvee) and the rabbis Freelund and Louchheim--with recipes included. Enjoy kosher wine tasting from Jarden Wines plus games, rides, a petting zoo, live entertainment, a gift bazaar and more. Admission is free and open to all.
