Arizona Harvest Dinner
On Oct. 20, Janos Restaurant hosts the eighth annual dinner benefiting Native Seeds/SEARCH. Both celebrate native foods and regional agriculture. The cost is $150 per person and includes wine, tax and gratuity; 615-6100; reservations required.
Re-Opened
Little Poca Cosa Café re-opened in its new and improved location at 151 N. Stone Ave., this time with a larger kitchen, shaded patio waiting area and disability accessible restrooms. Sisters Marcela and Sandra Dávila continue to greet customers but still won't let you dally if others are waiting. Reservations are not necessary because there's no phone; open weekdays serving breakfast and lunch from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Displaced
Charro Grill, a fast-casual concept co-partnered by Metro Restaurants and El Charro, which opened a few months ago in Joesler Village at River Road and Campbell Avenue, has closed. It will re-open near El Charro at 100 W. Orange Grove Road in the former Smokin' space. Smokin', a Metro restaurant, has been extinguished at this location.At other Metro restaurants during October, for every bottle of Big Tattoo Red and Big Tattoo White sold, Two Brothers Winery will donate 50 cents to national breast cancer charities and 50 cents to the UA Patients Association, an organization assisting cancer patients who cannot afford treatment.
Closed
The Three Sisters at 4210 E. Speedway Blvd. closed, but a new sign says "Green Bamboo Than-Truc Restaurant coming soon." Let's hope the food is as good but the service improves.
