George Nardo is the owner of and lead audio engineer at one of Tucson's most well-known recording studios, the Luna Recording Studio. He has been a dedicated musician since the '60s, written songs for platinum albums, and toured everywhere from Hollywood to London.
What was the first concert you attended?
1968 or '69 at the Singer Bowl in Queens, New York, the Soft Machine opened, then the Chambers Brothers, then Janis Joplin and then after an hour wait, Jimi Hendrix. The stage was round and went in circles so everybody could see. We missed the last train home so we followed the tracks back 9 miles. I was grounded for years.
What are you listening to these days?
Katy Perry, some of her songs are really rockers dressed in pop. I always have Led Zeppelin close by as well as Bruno Mars, Sting, The Black Keys, and, of course, the Beatles.
What was the first album you owned?

What artist, genre or musical trend does everyone seem to love, but you just don't get?
Dance...you have all these DJ's rocking out on stage to prerecorded tracks or samples. What's that about?
What musical act, current or defunct, would you most like to see perform live?
Led Zeppelin.
What is your favorite guilty pleasure?
Watching TV with the sound off and playing guitar...LOUD.
What song would you like to have played at your funeral?
Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir," and "Footstompin' Music" by Grand Funk Railroad.
What band or artist changed your life, and how?
The Beatles, four guys making that kind of music, they could rock.
