Nine Questions

Steven Yanez Romo

The Electric Blankets started off as a side project for members of the Provocative Whites and the Ghost of 505. Steven Yanez Romo, the drummer, was the last member to join the band. Romo says that a couple of years and a few quality songs later, the band decided to take the project more seriously. The Electric Blankets will perform at Plush at 11:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 1. Keep up with Romo and the rest of the band on Facebook and at soundcloud.com/electric-blankets.

What was the first concert you attended?

I believe I was, like, 5 years old and I was with my family. We went to go see Carlos Santana and Los Lobos at the Pima County Fair.

What are you listening to these days?

Right now I am obsessed with the new Washed Out album, Paracosm ... I've also been obsessed with Monomania from Deerhunter.

What was the first album you owned?

I believe it was the first Will Smith album. I bought it at the Tanque Verde Swap Meet with allowance money when I was really young.

What artist, genre or musical trend does everyone seem to love, but you just don't get?

I really don't understand why people are losing their minds over Alt-J.

What musical act, current or defunct, would you most like to see perform live?

I would say, from back in the day, probably Talking Heads or James Brown. And acts that are out today... you know, it would have to be Washed Out and Deerhunter.

Musically speaking, what is your favorite guilty pleasure?

Eleanor Friedberger from the Fiery Furnaces.

What song would you like to have played at your funeral?

Probably "Do You Realize" from the Flaming Lips. That's probably the most clichéd answer I can give but, man, that song would just kick so much ass.

What band or artist changed your life, and how?

Definitely John Bonham from Led Zeppelin. Being a drummer and really focusing in on some of the drum work of John Bonham for Led Zeppelin, it just blew my freaking face off.

Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time?

I'm going to have to say Anthology from the Impossibles.
