What was the first concert you ever saw?
My dad took me to see Hootie and the Blowfish perform on the beach in 2003.
What are you listening to these days?
A lot of Harry Potter audiobooks, The Coathangers, The Pork Torta, and the Sarcastic Dharma Society.
What was the first album you owned?
It was a Disney soundtrack compilation of all the best songs ("I Can Go the Distance," "Ev'rybody Wants to Be a Cat," "Part of Your World," "Hakuna Matata," etc.).
What artist, genre or musical trend does everyone seem to love, but you just don't get?
I don't understand the teenage draw to acts like Wavves and Tyler, the Creator.
What musical act, current or defunct, would you most like to see perform live?
It would be a dream to attend a house party that Mika Miko, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and The Runaways were all playing.
Musically speaking, what is your favorite guilty pleasure?
I like to listen to the original Japanese Sailor Moon soundtracks at home while I read. They are an amazing collection of beautifully composed songs.
What song would you like to have played at your funeral?
A live performance by The Muppets covering Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody."
What band or artist changed your life, and how?
When I was in high school, a friend of mine told me to check out the Mean Reds. They really opened up my musical perspectives and introduced me to sounds I had never heard in music before.
Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time?
According to my iTunes, it's Sannyasa Songs (of Love) by the Sarcastic Dharma Society, but I think Don't Forget the SALSA! by Beanpod Race (a friend of mine's little sister) is a close second.
